"The CAD group was established in 1998 by Malcolm Buchanan. Armed with his toolbox, R2,000 working capital and a passion for his trade, Malcolm worked tirelessly to establish and grow the business to what it is today. Malcolm focused on building lifelong relationships with his clients who became friends and the business has gone from strength to strength over the last 25 years.
His free time was taken up by his other passion being deep sea fishing, he took many customers on charters and traveled extensively looking for the next big catch.
Malcolm trained many apprentices over the years, teaching them how to make intricate moulds, all the while reducing the carbon footprint. Many of these apprentices are still at CAD and are actively honouring his legacy in the way that he wanted. CAD is a family business and we would love you to join us."

CAD Tool & Die, established in 1998 by Malcolm Buchanan, is a KZN-based company with a nationwide presence.
Our primary focus lies in manufacturing high-quality moulds for both in-house production and specific client requirements through our dynamic tool room team. In response to the growing demand for injection moulding services, we introduced CAD Plastics in 2003, which now operates as a substantial division catering to the needs of our in-house tools and producing plastic products for metallising purposes.
As of 2006, we successfully launched our Metallising Division, positioning ourselves as one of the leading companies in South Africa specializing in Vacuum Metallising for a diverse range of plastic components. Our expertise extends to metallising coffin handles and accessories, cupboard accessories, and curtaining products for the Decor industry. Additionally, we proudly serve clients in the automotive industry, cosmetic products, and various other sectors.

TOOL & DIE
Our Tool & Die division manufactures plastics injection moulds to customer specification. We are equipped with cutting edge technology and the latest Edgecam software, enabling us to design and manufacture high quality precision tools. Find out more about TOOL & DIE
PLASTICS
Our plastic injection moulding division comprises of 21 moulding machines ranging from 50 tons to 420 tons, making us highly versatile. Our energy efficient machines are environmentally friendly with more out put and less energy consumption. Find out more about Plastics
